In February 2014 Baltic-American Freedom Foundation launched a new program, Leadership Academy, which is an amazing opportunity for young leaders from the Baltic States to develop their leadership skills in the United States of America. The program takes place in July 2014 at Brandeis University which is located very close to Boston. 18 young and talented leaders were chosen this spring from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and they are spending July 2014 in U.S. to develop their leadership skills and explore the culture and history of the U.S.
Our adventure started on 3rd of July 2014 when participants from 3 Baltic countries gathered in Riga airport to start their journey to Boston.
After long hours of travelling we finally made it to Boston airport where we were very warmly welcomed by Brandeis University staff who drove us to the campus and gave us time to settle in.
The next day was used to get to know the campus area, so we had a guided tour around the campus. We also played some ice-breaking games and had several different activities to get to know more about each other
As it was raining on 4th of July the Carnival and Fireworks which was organized to celebrate the Independence Day was postponed and therefore we celebrated it on 5th of July. We visited a Carnival in Walthams, tasted local food and enjoyed nice summer weather.
