BAFF Alumni Leadership Opportunities

The Baltic-American Freedom Foundation alumni community offers access to unique events and activities focused on social opportunities, opportunities to give back, professional development, and leadership development. With guidance and financial support from the BAFF Board of Directors, the alumni community engages and connects community members professionally and socially through ongoing Baltic-based programming.

The vitality of the BAFF alumni community is made possible through active contributions of time, expertise, and resources of community members. BAFF has established the following volunteer leadership opportunities for BAFF alumni who have completed their programs in good standing.

BAFF Alumni Council

This is a volunteer, a high-level leadership development opportunity with responsibility for advancing a self-sustaining alumni community under mentorship from the BAFF Board of Directors. Alumni Council members will develop the strategic plan and manage execution of ongoing Baltic-based alumni programming and engagement. Working closely with BAFF staff, the Alumni Council reports directly to the BAFF Alumni Affairs Committee, co-chaired by two members of the Board of Directors.

The Council meets three times per year, in person as circumstances allow, in advance of BAFF BOD meetings. Serving on the Alumni Council requires 8-12 hours per month in meeting time, committee and taskforce work, and event participation. BAFF supports Alumni Council participation by covering meeting travel expenses during the term of service.

Council responsibilities may include:

  • Participation in weekend meetings and events

  • Review of alumni survey results, monitoring of alumni engagement, and based on it developing annual strategic and implementation plans

  • Planning and implementation of alumni activities, including social events, volunteering opportunities, and short-term or long-term programs for professional and leadership development

  • Implementation of BAFF tenth anniversary events scheduled for June 2022

Alumni Council members serve staggered two-year terms.

The BAFF Alumni Affairs Committee will review the applications of all interested in Alumni Council positions and will propose a slate to the BAFF Board of Directors for their approval.

BAFF Ambassadors

BAFF Ambassadors represent and promote BAFF, its mission, programs, and opportunities within the BAFF community and throughout the Baltics. Volunteering provides the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with fellow alumni across cohorts, industries, and countries as well as to connect with BAFF in a personal way.

BAFF Ambassadors agree to serve a one-year renewable term and volunteer a minimum of 12 hours per year. Serving as a BAFF Ambassador meets the Professional Internship Program requirement to perform 8 hours of volunteer service within one year of returning from the U.S.

BAFF Ambassador activities may include:

  • Assisting with organizations of BAFF events such as Thanksgiving Dinner, Alumni Stories, the tenth anniversary celebration, and local alumni activities

  • Organization of alumni special interest groups and networking activities

  • Media interviews and other awareness raising opportunities

  • Contribution of professional assistance with application review, development of marketing materials, etc.

  • Staffing at university information days, career fairs, etc.
