herberts kass - baff intern at trc advisory, chicago
My name is Herberts, and for the past four months, I have been living in Chicago, Illinois, working, learning, and immersing myself in the many facets of American culture. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to join the team at TRC Advisory as an Associate Co-op, collaborating with talented and diligent individuals to help companies develop strategies for growth and profitability. In this short time, I’ve already been part of a three-month project, diving deep into data, traveling to work closer to the client, helping them navigate the market, and delivering actionable results. I’ve gained valuable insights into how Americans approach work and communication, and I am confident the next seven months will bring even more revelations. With the New Year comes the start of another project, and I am eager to see what lies ahead.
Living in Chicago has been a wonderful experience so far. The city is steeped in history and art, with a vibrant mix of cultures. It is a modern city that still keeps its past alive, from the elegant glass skyscrapers to the elevated train line running through the Loop, much as it did a hundred years ago. So far, I’ve visited the Chicago History Museum, Millennium Park, the Bean, the Willis Tower, and many other iconic places. I’ve walked the Magnificent Mile, strolled along the lakeshore, explored the city’s numerous parks, and wandered through the bustling streets of downtown. Watching the Cubs win a game at Wrigley field and hearing the crowd roar was an exceptionally immersive experience.
A special thanks to BAFF for organizing the Enrichment Trip to Miami. Meeting the other participants in my cohort, socializing, and sharing our stories was an unforgettable experience. Once again, I was reminded that one of the most rewarding aspects of this program has been meeting new people and forming connections with roommates, colleagues, and new friends in the city. The trip was a fantastic opportunity to experience Miami, from Little Havana to Wynwood, South Beach, the Everglades, and beyond. These are great memories, made even better by great people.
I feel like I’ve seen so much, and yet there is so much more to explore.
