Laura Indriksone - BAFF intern at NYES, New York
I live in NYC and work in NYES- New York Embroidery Studio. I live in Brookly and the studio is in Manhattan. I commute with a bike in summertime. That is also an amazing experience in NYC. In the studio, I have mastered and learned all kinds of techniques like hand embroidery, printing, and hot-fix crystals. And now I'm learning laser cutting and engraving, which I really like.
I have learned a lot professionally and personally. Met some great people along the way and also people who have given me great lessons in life and therefore I have become stronger. NYC is truly a melting pot.
My co-workers are with roots from Morocco, England, Korea, and the Dominican Republic. My roommates are from Ethiopia, Oman, and Mexico. I love this experience. Living in NYC has opened up me as a person. I feel more free to express myself. I will come back as a different person in a very positive way.
