The holder of this Certificate has successfully completed
the Baltic-American Freedom Foundation’s
Professional Internship Program


Continuing a longstanding American commitment to the Baltic region, the Baltic-American Freedom Foundation‘s (BAFF) mission is to deepen the ties between and among Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and the United States through programs of education and exchange centering on economic growth and democratic values. 

The Professional Internship Program is a competitive and prestigious scholarship for the next generation of civic leaders. The Program helps to find career-related professionally focused internships in the United States of America in business, education, social work, architecture, human rights, journalism and many other fields. Through the Professional Internship Program BAFF provides all-inclusive scholarships to top university graduates with internships at U.S. companies and organizations of all sizes. 

Duration: from 6 up to 11 months, minimum of 32 and a maximum of 40 hours per week. 

Host organizations provide program participants with: 

  • orientation and support to get acclimated to the new work environment and responsibilities, 

  • internship plan with definite tasks performed with a specific objective for each,  

  • sufficient resources and equipment needed in order to fulfill their internship plan, 

  • continuous on-site supervision and mentorship by experienced and knowledgeable staff, 

  • structured and guided activities such as rotation through several departments, on-the-job training, attendance at conferences, and similar learning experiences, as appropriate in specific circumstances, 

  • introducing participants to the regional culture, creating networking opportunities, teaching how to collaborate with colleagues with diverse backgrounds and work styles, and providing other support needed. 

During the internship, participants

  • broaden and deepen their professional knowledge, 

  • gain new working skills and techniques, 

  • improve their ability to work within an international team, 

  • gain international living experience, 

  • broaden their perspective on how to conduct business in the U.S.,  

  • worke closely with a supervisor and mentor,  

  • expand their professional network, 

  • improve written and oral English language proficiency sufficient to excel in a U.S. professional environment, 

  • attend professional events during their stay in the US, 

  • enhance their ability to contribute to their home country.
